"Midland" (MCM) phoned ask'g me for my daughters phone

I received a phone call from someone asking for my daughter's phone number. They would not id themselves and repeated their request. Unless they told me who they were and what they wanted I would not give out anyone elses phone number. They said they would call again "tomorrow" and hung up. I suspect this might be Midland Credit Management. I have no idea what any of my relatives financial dealings are and would like to know how my name was obtained from this company. Also, I do not want to receive any more of their phone calls. What's the situation with this company?
