Midland Credit Management complaint
To all of you complaining about Midland.....here's another one...I just received yet another letter from this company stating that I own them over $2200 dollars from a debt owed to Citibank. I've been trying to get this removed from my credit reports for sometime now, only to receive letters saying the debt was validated. I laughed. I decided to call the company after opening yet another letter. I spoke with a gentleman named Malcomb. He asked me if I was the person named on the letter, I said yes, but it was my name prior to being married. I was very nice to this man and then asked him when they received this debt from Citibank. He didn't say at first just asked if I was planning on paying it, and that when they talked to me in November of 2007 I said I wasn't going to pay it. Again I asked when they acquired the debt. He proceeded to tell me back in 1989 !!! I laughed at him. I asked him if he realized that the debt was almost 20 years old and that by law he doesn't have the right to try and collect anymore on the debt. He proceeded to tell me that I had a moral obligation to pay the debt and that they would continue to try to collect through whatever means necessary. I told him to go ahead and try, laughed some more and hung up on him. Can someone tell me where to go from here. Do I write the company a letter or contact my attorney generals office?? I live in Illinois. Thanks

if you have the money to pay the bill go to the original creditor and tell them you owe them this money, the original creditor will snivel, but will spend the time and the cost to dredge up this long past bill so you can pay it, you will feel better too

if you have the money to pat the bill go to the original creditor and tell them you owe them this money, the original creditor will snivel, but will spend the time and the cost to dredge up this long past bill so you can pay it, you will feel better too

This bottom feeding company is trying to collect a debt 22 years old from me that that I included in a Bankruptcy 19 years ago. They refuse to send a Validation letter (not that they have to because I have the bankruptcy paperwork in front of me), but they just will not go away. This company will probably sell this worthless account to another company and I will have to go through this again.

They can continue to try to collect the debt...but they can't ever pursue you legally. Your best bet would be to write a letter to this company and state that you would no longer like to get calls or letters from them. If they follow the FDCPA they have to conform and your letter will be on file and you account coded forever as DO NOT CALL....there's nothing they can do. I use to collect debt...but not with this disgusting company.
